Worship at St George’s Church

Sunday Morning Services

All Age Worship is ideal for young families and anyone less familiar with Anglican Worship. This is usually an informal holy communion service with more modern hymns, played by our music group. Children are in church for the first 10mins and then go out to Children’s Church for the sermon slot and prayers, returning for Holy Communion. There is a shorter sermon. The service is livestreamed and lasts approx. 1 hr.

A modern language Holy Communion services, with hymns, readings and sermon. The words are projected on to a screen and there is also a hard copy, including larger print. During the service we have Children’s Church in the lobby led by Bethany di Legh Runciman for our younger members where they have crafts and bible stories. The service is livestreamed and lasts approx. 1hr.

Throughout the year St George’s hosts an number of special and Civic services and these are advertised in our calendar, newsletter, magazine and Facebook.

Evening Services

This is a short reflective service with bible readings, sermon and prayers and lasts approx. 45mins. It may be in contemporary or traditional language. It is held in the small memorial chapel.

This is a very informal time of prayer, praise and fellowship. It is a gathering from across churches in our diocese and is open to all. Started in January 2024 as part of the New Wine Network we are still very new and finding our way and encouraging one another as we seek the Holy Spirit and pray for our island and for one another.

This is a short traditional mediative service with prayers, readings and times of silence. The service is livestreamed on St George’s FB page and in person in the memorial chapel. It lasts approx. 30mins.

Children’s Church

This is offered at the 10.30am service on the second, third and fourth Sunday of the month. There are Bible stories, crafts and activities with Bethany di Legh Runciman.
